Dr. Morley discusses the intersection of structural inequality, the cycle of violence, and the impacts of violence on the brains of both members of impoverished communities and the law enforcement officials policing these communities. Dr. Morley explains how compassion based interventions alleviate the impacts of the cycle of violence on the brains of community members and law enforcement exposed to violence and thereby help bridge the gap between police and communities. Finally, Dr. Morley proposes more compassionate forms of criminal justice and methods by which compassion can be used to heal our society as a whole.
