The three speakers are all students from King George V School, Hong Kong, and are keen members of their school's Medicine Club. Gabriella describes the situation of refugees in Hong Kong, and their difficulties in accessing healthcare facilities. This is made more difficult by the fact that the SAR is not bound by the UN refugee convention. She makes the distinction between asylum seekers and refugees. Jennifer reveals the red tape necessary for refugees to claim free public healthcare, and describes the initial steps made by the group in contacting refugees and the charity Christian Action. From this, the group have developed the non-profit initiative/app ‘MedSearch’, which will allow refugees will be able to locate bespoke medical services and work out journey times and costs in advance of seeking medical aid. Eileen talks about how Christian Action have partnered the team. The group exhorts Hong Kongers to volunteer to help out at refugee centres, and to spread awareness of the issue.
