Dr Volker Rose utilizes the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne national laboratory, one of the the largest X-ray synchroton radiation light sources in the world, to analyze the paint from Pablo Picassos painting. He shares why partnering science with art is so important, and how recent discoveries are answering long asked questions.
Dr. Volker Rose is a physicist with the Advanced Photon Source and the Center for Nanoscale Materials at Argonne National Laboratory as well as an Adjunct Professor of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Ohio University. He holds an advanced degree in physics and a doctoral degree from RWTH Aachen, Germany.
Currently, his research focuses on the study of nanoscale materials by means of high-resolution x-ray microscopy techniques. He has published more than 60 journal articles and book chapters as well as given more than 50 invited talks at international conferences and higher institutions around the world. His work has been covered by media outlets including The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Discover Magazine, Voice of America, and many more.
