Today we have the tools to not only discover exoplanets but to study their atmospheres. The near-term goal is to search for signs of life in an exoplanet atmosphere. Ultimately, we will need a detailed look at any exoplanet that shows some evidence of hosting life, involving bold concepts in space science.
