upon competition. It is ingrained in all of us. Rather you call it manifest destiny, Overcoming,
Darwinism, “Working Hard”, these fundamental truths of progress is not just the American experience,
but human responsibility. The responsibility of driving forward and progressing at all costs is what makes movies great, songs popular, and politics interesting. “Started From the Bottom Now We're Here” is not only a stanza in the popular Drake song but a mode for life. The only problem with all of that is if the value of life is only measured by conquering there will be an imbalance and an overt system of
oppression even if the oppression is internal.
